Dr. Frank Tchuwa

Dr Frank Tchuwa is a Senior lecturer in rural development and extension at Bunda College, Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Malawi. He is also a Food Systems Network (FSNet)-Africa fellow and deputy head of the extension department. 

His research focuses on the design and application of farmer-centred participatory approaches and multi-sectoral approaches to support sustainable agri-food systems in diverse African contexts. 

Frank has experience in documenting case studies and evaluating agricultural extension programmes that focus on Governance of Sustainable Seed and Food Systems, family farming and the integration of scientific and indigenous knowledge in addressing social-economic and biophysical shocks faced by rural agrarian communities in Sub-Sahara Africa. 

He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich (United Kingdom), a MSc. in Rural Development and Extension, and a BSc. in Agricultural Extension from the University of Malawi.
