Background

Talking of natural resources, East Africa is a haven of this treasure trove. But it is also a populous regional bloc whose mineral and natural resource renaissance is increasingly dependent on practice-oriented higher education and training. This is the ink of philosophical persuasion and policy conviction that scribed the CEMEREM concept, a successful #DAAD-funded project which started in 2016 at Taita Taveta University with two partner universities in Dresden and Freiberg, Germany: HTW Dresden and TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Since 2018, CEMEREM MSc/MBA Scholarships have been available to East Africans. CEMEREM PhD Scholarships have been available from 2023.

The 2024 CEMEREM Scholarship Application is already open, but only up to January 15, 2024, 23:59 EAT.

Does it Matter?

The post-pandemic space is replete with #AI and other boundary-pushing innovations. This new era can only multiply the opportunities of today’s knowledge workers in influencing change and deepening insights for novel and sustainable solutions in a borderless world. As such, quality scholarship and lifelong skills development is necessary for today’s knowledge workers to remain adaptive and competitive. Nowhere is this reality more unbendable than in #mining and #natural#resourcemanagement – in a world craving for clean development mechanisms driven by mineral raw materials and other natural resources.
