East and South African-German Centre for Educational Research, Methodologies and Management (CERM-ESA): Alumni

The East and South African-German Centre of Excellence for Educational Research Methodologies and Management (CERM-ESA) Alumni Network is a vibrant community of scholars and professionals dedicated to advancing education, research, and leadership throughout Africa. Founded by the first cohort of CERM-ESA scholarship recipients, the network brings together master’s and Ph.D. graduates who share a commitment to impactful research and development in education.

    Our Vission

To nurture a dynamic network of scholars and professionals advancing educational excellence, impactful research, and leadership for sustainable development in Africa.

    Our Mission

The CERM-ESA Alumni Network fosters a collaborative space for alumni to exchange ideas, enhance professional skills, and support ongoing research initiatives. Our mission is to cultivate a sustainable network that empowers alumni to make significant contributions to their fields, communities, and beyond.

    Objectives

    • Strengthen Professional Networks: Build strong relationships between alumni to support professional growth and open doors for collaborative research.
    • Enhance Research Capacity: Encourage alumni to share their research, present papers, and contribute to publications that highlight innovations in educational methodologies.
    • Mentorship & Community Support: Provide mentorship opportunities to current CERM-ESA students, empowering the next generation of educators and researchers.
    • Give Back to Society: Support community projects that address critical social needs, from education to health, as a means of contributing to societal development.

    Key Activities

    • Conferences & Workshops: Our annual alumni conference offers a platform for knowledge-sharing, with sessions on career development, mentorship, and resource mobilization. The alumni network also hosts workshops, colloquiums, and research schools in various thematic areas.
Mentorship Program: Alumni play a pivotal role in mentoring CERM-ESA students, providing guidance on academic research, career planning, and professional development. Our mentorship council, composed of experienced alumni, is dedicated to supporting mentees in their educational journeys.
    • Resource Mobilisation: The alumni network actively seeks funding opportunities for research and community projects. Through partnerships with organizations like DAAD, JICA, and other international agencies, we aim to secure resources that support alumni initiatives and societal contributions.
    • Social & Career Events: Beyond academia, CERM-ESA alumni enjoy a range of social and networking events to foster relationships and build a supportive professional community. Our events celebrate alumni achievements, promote collaboration, and offer valuable opportunities for professional growth.
