    What You’ll Learn:

    In this introductory course, you’ll gain the foundational skills to:

    • Understand the basics of financial sustainability in educational contexts
    • Conduct market research to inform your Centre’s long-term strategy
    • Use the Business Model Canvas (BMC) to structure and develop your own business concept
    • Plan actionable steps toward running successful and financially sustainable online programmes

    Hands-On Learning:

    This course is designed to help you apply knowledge by use of guided, step-by-step processes to develop your own Centre’s business concept; peer exchange and best-practice sharing in a collaborative learning environment and practical exercises using the Business Model Canvas to translate ideas into strategies.

    Course Format:

    Self-paced modules + two 90-minute Zoom sessions

    Self-paced modules + two 90-minute Zoom sessions

    Live Zoom sessions:

    Combination of self-paced preparation, guided activities, and live peer discussions

    Target group:

    Academics, Centre staff, and administrators at Centres of Excellence

    Learning Outcomes:

    By the end of the course, you will be able to:

    • Explain why financial sustainability matters for Centres of Excellence
    • Apply the Business Model Canvas to create a business concept
    • Adapt and implement key strategies to strengthen your Centre’s financial future
    • Share and compare strategies with peers across the DIGI-FACE network

    Requirements:

    Active participation in both Zoom sessions; a willingness to engage in lively online discussions with your peers and motivation to adapt financial sustainability tools and strategies to your own Centre.

        • A student is currently enrolled in a study programme at one of the universities which is participating at DIGI-FACE (African Centres of Excellence and its network).
      2. Staff
        • Staff is everybody who works in the frame of a university which is participating at DIGI-FACE (African Centres of Excellence and its network) [(i.e. as coordinator, financial/administrative support, IT-support, learning designer, administrator etc.). If you are working for DAAD or DIGI-FACE you are also staff.
      3. Alumni
        • An Alumni is a former student in a study programme at one of the universities which is participating at DIGI-FACE (African Centres of Excellence and its network). In many cases, part of one of the centres’ alumni associations.
      4. Lecturer
        • A Lecturer performs teaching and pedagogic work at one of the universities which is participating at DIGI-FACE (African Centres of Excellence and its network)
      5. Researcher
        • A researcher is an individual who is engaged in conducting research at one of the universities which is participating in DIGI-FACE (African Centres of Excellence, Global Centres and its networks). Researchers contribute to academic knowledge through studies, experiments, and publications in various fields of expertise.
