

Prof. Sylvester Nsobire Ayambila
Prof. Sylvester N. Ayambila is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, Ghana. He holds a PhD in Development Studies (University of Ghana), MPhil. Agricultural Administration (University of Ghana) and B. Sc. Agricultural Technology (UDS, Tamale). He is currently the Head of the Department of Applied Economics at the School of Economics, UDS, Tamale. He has worked in UDS since 2004 and has occupied several positions and served in many committees in the university. He is also the Applied Research and Grants Coordinator of the West African Centre for Water, Irrigation and Sustainable Agriculture (WACWISA), a World Bank Centre of Excellence. Some of the recent projects he coordinated include; Feed the Future Innovations Laboratory for Small Scale Irrigation (ILSSI), a USAID Project from 2016 to 2019 and GIZ Green People’s Energy Project from 2021 to 2022. He has special interest in local technologies and innovations development and assessment, gender, food and agribusiness value chains, marketing and resource efficiency. He has undertaken many research and collaborations for many organisations and programmes which include; CIAT, IUCN, ACDEP, IWMI, FAO, IFDC, USAID, AGRA, WFP and the EU Horizon 2020. He is one of the consultants that evaluated Ghana’s Medium Term Agriculture Sector Development Plans (METASIP I&II), review of the Food and Agriculture Sector Development Policy (FASDEP II) and the development of a successor agriculture sector policy (FASDEP III).
