On 3 June 2026, Professor Paul Webb and Karlien Potgieter, representing DIGI-FACE, attended the Nelson Mandela University Faculty of Education Faculty Board meeting at the invitation of the Dean, Professor Heloise Sathorar.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to bring DIGI-FACE more visibly into Faculty conversations and to share its expanding digital learning possibilities with staff. It also created space to highlight current and forthcoming opportunities linked to the platform, and to encourage broader participation within the Faculty.
During a short presentation, staff were introduced to the DIGI-FACE platform and its growing range of resources. The presentation highlighted the platform’s free online courses, professional development opportunities, and possibilities for academic networking and knowledge sharing. Particular attention was given to the forthcoming DIGI-FACE micro-credentials, as well as to the value of DIGI-FACE as a space where academics and postgraduate students can upload and share their publications. In this way, the platform can contribute to increasing the visibility of Faculty research within a wider African and international higher education community.
Academics and postgraduate students were also encouraged to register on the DIGI-FACE platform and to engage in opportunities related to the development and testing of forthcoming postgraduate skills-based micro-credentials.
Dr Walters Doh Nubia will support communication between NMU staff, students, and DIGI-FACE, helping to ensure that information about opportunities and participation processes is shared effectively.
The Faculty Board presentation helped to refresh visibility, widen participation, and strengthen the connection between an existing Faculty-based initiative and the broader academic community it is intended to serve.
