    What You’ll Learn:

Over eight weeks, you’ll gain the essential skills to:

    • Formulate research questions and hypotheses with confidence
    • Operationalise phenomena of interest and apply appropriate measurement systems
    • Collect and manage quantitative data using Excel
    • Create simple graphs and visualisations
    • Apply statistical concepts including measures of central tendency, variation, and correlation
    • Differentiate between correlation and causation

    Hands-On Learning:

This course is highly interactive and applies self-directed online learning via Moodle with assignments and quizzes; eight live Zoom sessions for Q&A and guided practice and real-world exercises to build confidence in descriptive data analysis.

    • Design a basic quantitative research programme independently
    • Differentiate between types of hypotheses and research designs
    • Apply levels of measurement to operationalise research variables
    • Analyse data using descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode, variance, standard deviation)
    • Explore bivariate relationships with scatter plots and crosstabs
    • Understand and explain the difference between correlation and causality

    Requirements:
