Advanced R for Statistics
This self-paced online course builds on R-Statistics for Beginners and takes your R skills to the next level. You will learn how to create publication-ready figures, write your own functions, automate repetitive tasks, and produce professional reports with Quarto. These skills will allow you to work more efficiently, reduce manual errors in your analyses, and produce outputs that meet international publication standards.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Create publication-ready ggplot2 figures with custom themes, colors, fonts, and text labels
- Combine multiple plots into composite figures with facets and {patchwork}
- Write your own R functions and validate their inputs defensively
- Automate repetitive analyses with for-loops, the apply family, and {purrr}
- Produce professional Word reports with Quarto, including formatted tables ({flextable}) and figures
- Export results to Excel with custom formatting using {openxlsx2}
- Build reproducible workflows that go from raw data to polished reports
This course consists of three modules, each approximately four learning hours:
Module 1: Advanced Data Visualization
Module 2: Functions, Iteration & Automation
Module 3: Professional Reporting with Quarto
This course is fully self-paced and requires about 15 hours in total, including self-study and assessments. Participants who complete the course can request a certificate. The course also awards 0.5 ECTS credits.
Application details: The course is free of charge and it will close after 30 days. The course is fully self-paced. You are eligible to receive the certificate if you completed 80% of the course.
