    This practical and reflective course is ideal for lecturers, instructional designers, and teaching professionals who want to create high-impact digital content using principles grounded in educational theory.

    What You’ll Learn:

    You’ll explore key learning design elements such as:

    • scaffolding
    • chunking
    • sequencing
    • active learning
    • long-term retention — and discover how to apply these principles using tools supported by Moodle LMS.

    Hands-On Learning:

    By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with practical strategies, ready-to-use digital content, and a solid understanding of how to build online courses that work for your students.

    Course Format:

    The course combines self-paced study and guided reflection with active participation through discussion and a live Zoom component.

    Thirty notional hours with 5-6 self-directed learning hours per week.

    Live Zoom sessions:

    At least 2 sessions (required). If missed, participants complete an alternative recorded activity.

    Target group:

    Target group: University lecturers, instructional designers, digital educators, or anyone building Moodle-based courses

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Design learner-centred online content that applies core learning principles
    • Effectively scaffold, sequence, and chunk course content for engagement and clarity
    • Integrate active learning and rehearsal strategies to improve knowledge retention
    • Create cohesive course designs using parts-and-wholes thinking

    Requirements:

    A willingness to engage deeply with course content, contribute to peer discussions, and reflect through regular blog-style journaling on Moodle. Participants must complete all journaling activities and engage in synchronous or recorded Zoom sessions for course completion.
