Would you like to get to know the German Parliament? 

The International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) Programme for African Countries is aimed at politically and socially committed young graduates from Southern Africa (Botswana, Namibia, South Africa), East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda), and West Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal) who wish to make an active contribution to democracy and a vibrant civil society in their home countries. 
 
During an intensive four-week programme, participants have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the German parliamentary system and political decision making processes. The programme includes a one-week work placement shadowing a Member of the German 
Bundestag. 
 
Application requirements: 
■ Citizenship of one of the participating countries (dual citizenship is possible) 
■ Under the age of 30 years at the start of the scholarship (cut-off date January 1st) 
■ University degree 
■ Good knowledge of German (B2 or above) 
■ An interest in politics 
■ Social/political commitment

Important note
Namibian and South African citizens are eligible to apply for the global five-month IPS programme. For more information, please visit https://www.bundestag.de/ips_global. Please note that you can apply for both programmes at the same time, but you can only participate in one of them, and it is not possible to participate in the other programme at a later date.
