What is this post about?

Do you want to improve relations between African countries as well as between Africa and Europe? Are you working in International Cooperation or in Public Administration?

Then have a look at the PMIC brochure that will tell you more about an interesting master’s programme.

Note that the application period has been adapted to end on 31st March 2023. That is this upcoming Friday.

What does it cost?

It may be interesting to know that the 4-semester master’s study programme PMIC usually costs 4,550 Euro per semester (tuition fees: 4,500 Euro + student union contribution 50 Euro). In addition to this, students have to cover the travel costs to Kehl (Germany), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Dakar (Senegal) and Stellenbosch (South Africa) and accommodation there for a period of 16 days each. We estimate these costs to amount to an average of 6,000 Euro over the whole course of the study programme. Thus, the total cost of the study would amount to 24,200 Euro.

Thanks to generous funding by different donors however, we are able to offer huge discounts on the tuition fees to students with low income (compared to European standards). In addition to that, we are able to provide a certain support to travel costs. (Note that the 3,500 Euro mentioned in the brochure were already a reduced amount.)

Students from African countries who earn an average income in their respective home country (at least from Western and Eastern Africa) can expect a reduction of the tuition fee of up to 100 %. They can also expect full coverage of the student union fees and a contribution to their travel costs. They should, however, in any case be ready and able to cover:

  • Travel and accommodation costs for the presence phases amounting to a total of approximately 3,500 Euro over the 2 year study period,
  • their own living expenses during the whole period of the study programme.

Due to limited funding, the number of places is limited. We will not be able to offer more than twelve (12) places for students from Africa, four (4) from each of the regions Western Africa, Eastern Africa and Southern Africa.
