What is the difference between ORCID OR ORCID iD?

People use “ORCID” or “ORCID iD” interchangeably. An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), or ORCID iD, is a free unique 16-digit number, called a persistent identifier (PID), associated to a record or profile.
