Course: Sustainable resource use involving local communities, using transdisciplinary methods

This self-paced online course offers an introduction to sustainable resource use, community engagement, and transdisciplinary research in the context of global agriculture. The course is taught by Dr. Lysann Schneider.

During this course, participants will learn:
(1) The key principles of sustainable resource use and sustainability, and how to apply them in real-world situations.
(2) The importance of local and Indigenous knowledge in sustainable resource management, as well as effective strategies for community engagement.
(3) How transdisciplinary research methods can help combine different perspectives and approaches to solve sustainability challenges.

The course is divided into three connected units:
Unit 1: Fundamentals of sustainable resource use and sustainability
Unit 2: Community engagement strategies
Unit 3: Transdisciplinary research and methods

This course is fully self-paced and requires about 15 hours in total, including self-study and assessments. Participants who complete the course can request a certificate. The course also awards 0.5 ECTS credits.

Application details: The course is free of charge and it will close after 30 days. The course is fully self-paced. You are eligible to receive the certificate if you completed 80% of the course.
